There is a lot to be said for the comfort of an old friend...the ones that have been with you since your life before cancer. Just recently, I had the chance to sit down with my best friend from high school and catch up. It doesn't matter how long it has been between visits because we always seem to pick up where we left off, and we part knowing our friendship means that much more to each of us.
Another best pal from elementary school celebrates a birthday today. While the year ahead has presented challenges to both of us, knowing that we have each other to lean on makes all the difference in the world. Horses and good chats will always make things better.
And finally, my devoted friend from college. Her words continually provide support in my daily battle. In fact, a gift she sent yesterday centered around the message of comfort. While a cute pair of sweatpants and a friend's love can make you feel comforted, nothing can hold you up like God's love. This is what she had to say on the matter.....
"My prayer for you today is comfort! Whatever the day brings, in good news or in bad news, I just want to remind you God is in control and He is there to be the best comforter in your life."
"Shout for joy, O Heavens, O earth; burst into song, O mountains! For the Lord comforts his people."
