Conferences and Confidence

The parent-teacher conferences have rolled around again. We had a nice visit with our daughter's teacher last night and are thankful that she has had such an amazing year in kindergarten. We're very proud of our baby and it's hard to believe that the teacher would like her to start reading chapter books such as Charlotte's Web. She just walked for the first time the other day!!! She's still a little sensitive in the social arena at school so we're praying for confidence as she slowly figures out how to deal with conflict. It's a painful process, but know that we all have been there. I found some advice that was of some comfort.

"Those children who have learned to conquer their problems are more secure than those who have never faced them. Our task as parents, therefore, is not to eliminate every challenge for our children; it is to serve as a confident ally to help them through them."
Dr. James Dobson
