The Kentucky Derby was overshadowed with tragedy once again this weekend. The beautiful filly, Eight Belles, broke both her front ankles after courageously crossing the finish line in second place. It was an amazing effort by the filly, but such a sad ending to her glorius finish. What saddens me the most is the amount of blame people want to place on her jockey, her trainer, and the sport of horse racing. These people are grieving for their filly and now they have to defend their way of life and the love of their precious filly. Tragedy happens. It's no fault of anyone's. Bad things happen and none of us are immune to it. All we can do is find a way to deal with it and grow in some way regardless of how painful it is.
