I had treatment yesterday in the little city south of us. I wanted to leave early in order to get some Easter shopping done before my appointment. Before I left, the news had talked about a horrible accident on the highway I would be driving so I thought I better get on the road. It was a 5 car pile up with at least one fatality. While I knew I would be in for a wait, I never realized that the one hour commute that I was used to would turn into 3 hours. I arrived just in time for my appointment, but didn't get the Easter shopping done. When I passed by the scene of the accident, there were still two cars there...one of them in the shape of a ball. I couldn't help but be shaken by the fact that someone would not be going home to their family that night. While there were inconveniences that the wreck caused for so many people, it was a horrific tragedy for someone in my county. On top of seeing that accident, I happened to sit by someone in the waiting room that was on her cell phone. She had cancer and was waiting to see the doctor, but her mouth was rattling off cuss words about how the doctors were running late and she was just going to walk out. I just wanted to give her a piece of my mind and tell her to gain some perspective. Perspective. That was definitely the word of the day for me. No one knows how much time they have left. Why be angry about being late or doctors being hung up? It's a terrible waste of energy and your precious life. It could be taken away at any moment so you can't let the little things tick you off and make you miserable. It's just not worth it.
