Friends of ours will have a 13 year old soon. She'll be in the 7th grade next year. It's hard to believe. I guess I thought we all had young children, but they are growing up so fast. Our little one is already half-way there! My dad always called that age the "non-human" stage. Girls basically start at middle school and don't come out of it until they graduate from high school. It's a selfish time and one full of insecurities. We all make it, but it can be rough at times. Prayer is vital...everyone needs to keep communicating on all levels. That includes the parent.
"I prayed for this child, and the Lord answered my prayer and gave him back to me. Now I give him back to the Lord."
