A dear friend of mine sent me a gift with a note talking about the "seasons" of life and how we manage to get through them. She, like me, enjoys living in this area because we have 4 seasons. However, at this time of year, we're both more than ready for spring. (It only makes it harder to wait when you get the seed catalogs in the mail.) Sometimes that "season" in life lasts more than we want it to as well, but if we find joy within that season, we'll make it through. No matter how long the "winter" of your life lasts, spring will eventually bring hope and promise. Remember that!
Oh...and the groundhog didn't see his shadow this morning so we can all find joy in that!!

Maybe it's cuz I'm in a new place, but I find myself savoring this winter season and watching closely---closely for all subtle signs of the next season. So, far the sound of the "cheeseburger" chicadees which started a couple of weeks ago stands alone. At our other place on Great Northern Road, we would spot the first blackbirds in early February. Eight miles could make a lot of difference.
Anyway, it's an adventure to keep watch and to listen for the next hint, however small, that spring may be on its way. Turning the calendar over was nice!
