Dove Wisdom

One afternoon, I was sitting in my chair taking a break from unpacking. As I watched the birds out the window, I couldn't help but notice a mourning dove and his behavior. He was doing everything he could to keep the other doves from eating the millet on the ground. He would chase them away, one by one, in order to have more for himself. However, I don't think he had time to eat because he was so busy chasing everyone away. If he truly was the dominant dove in the covey, he wasn't going to last long wasting his time chasing others and not eating. I would think that a true leader would think of others first and make the time to eat. While it might sound silly trying to compare our world with back yard bird watching, I think you can see where I'm going with this. Sometimes we get so busy with our own agenda, we fail to see how it might affect others. Take the time to see the situation from another perspective.

"In humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others."
Philippians 2:3-4
