Take Nothing for Granted

As I sat in treatment yesterday, I couldn't help but notice this beautiful woman a few chairs down from me. She was one of those people you knew were special. She was surrounded by family and friends and you could tell that people just loved her. She was in a wheel chair, struggling with MS and had cancer on top of that. When I got home, I had an email requesting prayer for a friend of a friend's daughter. She has Stage IV cancer, and she is the same age as my daughter. Last week, I told you about our cousins in Michigan struggling to keep two little girls alive after losing a precious baby boy. This spring, a dear friend of mine lost her nephew in a tragic accident.

No matter what, when you look outside of your own circumstances and get beyond yourself, there is someone out there hurting more than you are. Every one has a cross to bear...yet some are incredibly heavy. I think of our situation and while I don't really care for it, I know that my life is pretty normal despite my diagnosis. I can't imagine the pain of losing a child or not being able to wrap my arms around my little girl. For just a moment today, stop taking the life you have for granted and be thankful for it. Reach out to someone hurting more than you and as the Casting Crowns sing, "Love them like Jesus."

"Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy."
Psalm 126:5
