Our daughter lacks a fear of animals and every creature in between. She'll usually pick up any bug or approach any dog in the neighborhood. While it's great not to be fearful, at times I wish she had a bit more hesitation. A few weeks ago, I caught her catching honeybees. Yes, she got stung once, but continued to catch more. I figured that something, sometime will put her in her place, but had no idea it would be in the form of a bird.
Last week, while grandma and grandpa were in the hospital, my husband and our daughter decided to mow the law for them. While dad was mowing, our daughter stumbled upon some baby turkeys. Convinced she had to bring one home, she approached them, thinking she would have her own baby to raise. All of the sudden, mom turkey arrived on the scene and started chasing our little girl. She was running as fast as she could go, elbows out, in her little rain boots, but couldn't get away. Luckily, dad saw her dilemma and stepped in to put the chase on momma turkey. It's my desire that this experience has finally given her a healthy respect for animals, but I seriously doubt it. She'll probably just be afraid of turkeys for awhile.
