A Daughter's Tip

Yesterday, I was trying to connect to the internet to help my sister out with an email. It was taking FOREVER. My daughter was hovering over me because she knew as soon as I was done, she was going to be able to visit her Webkinz site. (We've been sucked into that recently...if you're a teacher or a mother, you know what it is. Basically, you buy a stuffed animal, but you can go to a website and create its room, feed it, dress it, make friends, etc. Note to moms out there - if you don't have one, good for you.) Anyway, we were having troubles connecting and finally I got so frustrated that I let out a big "uuuuuuugggggghhhhhh." My daughter pats me on the back and says in a quiet, little voice..."patience, mom....patience." I guess she listens to me. I can remember saying those exact words to her while we sat on a dock waiting for a fish to bite. A good reminder for mom, though. Do as I say, not as I do....I'll have to be better about that.

How can a society that exists on instant mashed potatoes, packaged cake mixes, frozen dinners, and instant cameras teach patience to its young?
