Thoughts on School

School is approaching faster than I thought it would. I see that the retailers are already putting out school supplies and knowing that we don't have any free weekends left this summer, I decided to buy our daughter's clothes on eBay this week. September 4th will be here before we know it! There is a little anxiety, I must admit, in sending her to a bigger school. Will she fit in? Will she be kind to others? Will she enjoy school like she has in the past? As parents, we will worry no matter what. We can ask God to protect her as she walks through those doors and pray that she is the kind soul that we have brought her up to be. At that point, it's out of our hands since we can't walk the halls with her. I guess at some point, you have to let go, knowing that God is in control and you have provided the tools for her to be a good person and the strength to get through the rough spots.

"The key is to begin very early to instruct your children on the true values of life: love for all mankind, kindness, integrity, trustworthiness, truthfulness, and devotion to God."
Dr. James Dobson

"Those things, which ye have both learned,...and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you."
Philippians 4:9

I know that I always get a little woozy when I see those back to school circulars in the mail...as if somehow the retailers are wishing away my hard-earned summer and not letting me forget that my teachers' vacation is on the decline. And yet, there is always part of me that is really excited to meet my new class; new kids in their new clothes with their fresh packs of supplies. I don't know yet what it must feel like to send a child to school, but I know how nervous I am as a teacher on the first day. And I also know how hard it is for kids and I do my best to protect them and help them fit in and feel apart of my classroom, our classroom. I pray for Grace's teacher today, that she/he will do the same and bring your more comfort as well. -S

PS-I love the ebay purchasing idea...and wouldn't mind a post on that little adventure when the clothes come!
