Since moving in to Grandma's and Grandpa's house, I have made an effort to put the flag out every day and bring it in at night. Today, on the anniversary of September 11, it has even more meaning that it normally does. I remember when everyone displayed their flags in the days after the attack. We were united as one country, proud of what she stood for. She still is the same country, providing us with more liberties and privileges than anywhere in the world. She still demands our respect and enthusiasm despite the differences of opinion.

Terrorist attacks can shake the foundations
of our biggest buildings, but they cannot
touch the foundation of America.
These acts shatter steel, but they cannot dent
the steel of American resolve.
America was targeted for attack because
we are the brightest beacon for freedom
and opportunity in the world.
And no one will keep that light from shining.
