We Survived!

The first day of school was a huge success. Our daughter picked out her outfit (and has since laid out 6 more outfits on her bedroom floor for the days ahead) and was rearing to go yesterday morning. We arrived on time and was greeted by the secretary, the librarian, and the counselor...all women she had met before so they were familiar faces. The librarian took us to her room, but the teacher wasn't there. So, we checked out the bathroom and used the lucky stall that a former Husky had told us about and then went back to find the teacher. She had playground duty, but was relieved by another teacher so she could greet her students. When we got back to her room, our daughter found a former classmate. I snapped a picture then they went sprinting out to the playground with a "Bye, mom!" I had to ask her to come back to give me a hug. I guess you could say there wasn't much of an issue about leaving me! They were a ton of familiar faces in the halls for both my daughter and I which makes it wonderful. We're both so excited about the new year, and she couldn't stop talking about it when she got home. Today will be another challenge as she attempts to ride the big yellow school bus. This one is a bit harder for both of us, but know she'll be fine. Besides, it gets her on the playground earlier! Thanks for the prayers...they worked!

Nice work!!! Taylor will be needing some of this excitement and courage - I will be sure to share this with her! I hope the bus ride goes well - I know it is tough Jen hang in there!

I love her first day outfit...very sassy and cute! How did the bus riding go? They seem so young...but I know that even preschoolers ride the buses around here...

I can't imagine those tough good-byes, as kids transition to a new part of their lives. How wonderful that there were familiar faces at school to help out a bit. Thinking of you! -S
