My husband's grandma flies back home today. It was a rough visit, but despite an emergency surgery, I think she had a nice time with our family out here. My mother-in-law will be flying with her just to make sure she does okay. Of course, Grandma protested and asked her why she was doing it. My mother-in-law said that she wanted to do it. This bantering back and forth went on for a short time, but then it was settled. They were going to fly back together. Later on in the afternoon, my sister-in-law said that Grandma admitted she was glad to have the help and company on the flight. I just laughed when I heard that. Why are we like that? Almost all the women I have in my life are terribly stubborn and independent...I'm including myself in this generalization. We would rather stretch ourselves so thin or make ourselves sick than actually ask for help. What is the big deal? Is it a sign of weakness? Do we like to be the martyrs?? I don't know, but I'm betting it has a lot to do with pride. I find myself doing the same thing in my spiritual life half the time too. It isn't until I'm in so much pain or feeling so sick that I actually beg God to help me. Why don't I just ask for help before it gets too crazy? If I put my pride aside, I could probably avoid a lot of the stress I created in the first place.
"By pride comes nothing but strife, but with the well-advised is wisdom."

Thanks Jen...this post really hit home.
I like where you are going with this Jen! So true especially the part about not asking for God's help in our lives. I know I have been saying this a lot to you lately, but I tend to put God in a box and figure my problems are too small for Him to bother with! Silly really!! That is like saying that I would not care if Taylor's or Aubrey's shoe was untied as they were running down the street... I have really been focusing on reminding myself that I am a CHILD of God. Boy I sure miss you and have been thinking about you a lot lately.
